Wedding Theme Rustic Romance

Nelia was introduced to Henry in 2002, as his brother’s girlfriend. Henry immediately liked her, but needless to say, she was spoken for. Her relationship broke up and she left to work in the UK and lost contact with Henry. In August 2010 she had the urge to look him up on Facebook, they sent messages, met up two months later, and have been inseparable ever since...

On Valentine’s Day 2011 Henry was late picking Nelia up for their date. She was slightly annoyed with him as she hates being late.

After they had their main meal, Henry just got up and out of the blue got down on one knee and proposed to Nelia, right there in the busy restaurant!

Nelia says she will never forget this gesture, as Henry is quite a shy person, and for him to have done that – completely out of character – meant so much to her.

The search was on for the perfect venue, and when Nelia first laid eyes on the quaint reception venue in the town of Cullinan, she instantly fell in love with it. It would be perfect for the theme they had in mind for their wedding – rustic romance.

Having a best friend who is a wedding co-ordinator, and who knows her so well, was an absolute blessing, and together Nelia and Alet put together this stunning wedding in just six months.

The beauty of this wedding is that they managed to take elements of the things Henry and Nelia love, and create a stunning event. The décor on the tables was minimal but effective. They made sure that it would not compete with the venue’s own unique interior, but instead complement it perfectly. Dinner was in the form of delicious picnic baskets, and each guest received a recyclable knife, fork and spoon set to use.

The wedding favour for each couple was bird seed hearts from Hartebessiebos, which tied in with the heart theme that Nelia had, and the perfect idea for an environmentally friendly gift.

Another clever idea, which we personally love, is the flowery gumboots the girls wore when they did the photographs on the train tracks.

It added a quirky aspect to the photos, and made sure the girls’ feet did not get dirty! The same gumboots were later used at the reception, filled with fresh cut flowers – so unique.
