Wilma & Paul {Real Wedding}

Wedding Date: 16 April 2011

Venue: Tramonto, George

Six years ago, Paul made an impression on Wilma as guest speaker at a class in television presenting which Wilma attended. Then in 2009, a mutual friend, who thought these two would hit it off introduced them officially, they met for dinner, realised they actually remember each other from that class, and felt that this relationship was meant to be...

From the day Paul and Wilma got engaged, they decided that their wedding should be an entire weekend where guests could truly experience a celebration of love and friendship. Wilma’s family owns the beautiful wedding venue Tramonto in George, and needless to say, this was the obvious choice for the location to celebrate their special day.

With Wilma being very involved at the venue as co-ordinator, she had both the pleasure and knowledge to plan their own dream wedding – and what a spectacular event it was!

Because Paul and Wilma love things that are timeless, they wanted their wedding theme to be a reflection of that, and in 20 years’ time, if they were to look at their wedding photographs, they should still love the wedding décor they chose. Therefore they decided on an elegant vintage theme. To add a personal touch, everything was branded with a vintage logo that featured their names on, and they had a personalised photo booth where guests could have their photographs taken, and then take the strip home with them as a memento of the couple’s wedding.

The couple also had a bedouin tent erected and created a lounge area with a cocktail bar where the guests could have their welcome drinks and snacks, sheltered from the harsh African sun, while the couple’s photographs were taken.

As an interesting alternative to a guest book, the couple had monthly calendars designed in their wedding theme and guests could write in a message on their own birthday. This way they would never forget a birthday!

Paul and Wilma agree that their wedding was perfect – a celebration in their own true style. And some of their guests added that they are officially retiring from going to weddings as after this wedding, everything else will be a let-down. We concur!
