Jennifer & Richard {Real Wedding}

Wedding Date: 29th October 2011

Venue: Galagos Country Estate

Wedding Theme: Eloquent Minimalistic

Jennifer and Richard met at her mom’s house on Christmas day, 2007. Richard was there with a friend of his, who happened to be Jennifer’s cousin. It was love at first sight! Richard even made unnecessary trips to the bathroom just to catch a glimpse of Jennifer. Richard says: “I just knew she would be my wife someday..!”

On the 4th of April 2010, the couple arrived at the luxurious Mount Grace Hotel and Spa in Magaliesburg, for a lovely weekend away. While Jennifer was admiring the view from their room’s balcony, Richard poured them each a glass of bubbly and put the ring in Jennifer’s glass. When Jennifer realised what was going on Richard went down on bended knee and proposed! When it came to planning the wedding, Richard and Jennifer took on the task themselves, but did call in the help of a professional, who assisted in putting their ideas together to make it the day they had been dreaming of.

One of the things Richard and Jennifer were quite particular about was to find an alternative to the traditional wedding guest book. They found a beautiful engraveable frame on which guests could write their messages with a special pen, and loved this so much, that they are now the sole importer of these frames to SA!

As October months go, heavy showers were predicted for their wedding day. However, they awoke to a glorious Saturday morning, and all signs of the previous night’s rain were gone. As the bagpipes played the Wedding March, Jennifer made her way towards the chapel, and says she’ll never forget the look on Richard’s face when he saw her at the chapel entrance. The day was everything they could have hoped for, and it was magical to see how beautifully everything they planned came together.

Richard and Jennifer did not want a specific colour for their wedding, but loved these multi-colour stripes, so they decided to make it a focus point at the wedding. Richard’s shirt with striped cuffs, Jennifer’s shoes, and the striped umbrella, were all made by the designer, Paul Smith. The couple wanted items that they could enjoy after the wedding, as a reminder of this very special day in their lives, and these items did just that!
